Father Joshua Caler

Rector of Christ Episcopal Church Pottstown

Father Joshua is the 26th Rector of Christ Church Pottstown, where he began his tenure during Eastertide, 2018. As a young adult, Fr. Joshua discerned a call to ordained ministry through his involvement in a vibrant community at Christ Church Charlottesville, Virginia, where he cultivated a deep joy in the life of Christian faith as expressed and shared through the rhythms of the Church. A graduate of Duke University Divinity School (M.Div, 2011), Fr. Joshua served his curacy at Christ Church Cathedral, Nashville, staying on after that as Canon for Evangelism and Parish Life. In the Diocese of TN, Fr. Joshua was a member of the Commission on Ministry and served as the Diocesan Ecumenical Officer. Prior to accepting a call to Pottstown, Fr. Joshua and his family lived in England, where he studied and served at St. Stephen’s House, Oxford.

In Pottstown, Fr. Joshua delights in accompanying the people of Christ Church in the work of the Gospel, including ministry among the poor and shared life centered on the worship of God. Leading the parish through teaching, Christian formation, and liturgy that expresses the fullness of the Anglican tradition are central to his ministry. In the Diocese of Pennsylvania, Fr. Joshua is the co-chair for the Commission on Ministry and previously served on the Diocesan Liturgical Commission. He is an active member of the Holy Cross Chapter of the Society of Catholic Priests. In Pottstown, Fr. Joshua is active in civic affairs, as a former board member for the Pottstown Cluster, as a participant in the Pottstown Ministerium, and as a member of the community where he lives with his wife, Mary, and daughter, Beatrice.
